Reading: I may no longer accept the answers offered to me by my Presbyterian Sunday school teacher. But her questions turned out to be right. Where do we come from? Who are we? Where are we going? How do we attain salvation, that is, spiritual health or wholeness? How can we live a life befitting our promise? How should we face death? And how, when our lives reach their close, can we be sure they will have been worth dying for?
John Buehrens
Life Questions:
1. Was the homework reading helpful in learning to articulate your faith?
2. What are some words or phrases you've heard to describe Unitarian Universalism?
3. How would you differentiate between belief and religion?
4. Are the 7 principles a source for you to describe your faith to someone else?
5. Do you think the questions posed in the quote from John Buehrens above are important ones to ask or find answers to?
Closing ritual:
We extinguish this flame but not the light of truth,
The warmth of community,
Or the fire of commitment.
These we carry in our hearts until we are together again.
